Expression Of P73, P14～(ARF) Protein In Cervical Carcinomas And Their Clinical Significance

Objective: to study the expression of p73 and p14^ARF protein in cervical carcinoma and to evaluate the relationship between the expression of p73 and p14^ARF and biological behavior of cervical carcinoma.Methods: The expression of p73 and p14^ARF protein was detected by immunohistochemical techique in 41 cervical carcinoma tissues and 20 normal cervical tissues. The result was observed by light microscope and calculate the percentage of positive cell. Differences were analyzed by X² test.Results: (1) In cervical carcinomas, the positive rate of p73 and p14^ARF protein were 73.2%(30/41), 85.4%(35/41), respectively. In normal cervical, the positive rate of p73 and p14^ARF protein were 5% and 0. There were significant statistical differences ofp73 and p14^ARF protein compared with normal cervical tissues, P<0.05. (2)Overexpression of p73 protein increased with grade of neoplasms, P<0.05,but were not associated with other clinical pathology parameters, P>0.05. (3) Overexpression of p14^ARF protein increased with grade of neoplasms, P<0.05,but were not associated with other clinical pathology parameters, P>0.05.(4)A positive correlation was present between p14^ARF and p73 protein expressions, P<0.05.Conclusion: The change of p73 and p14^ARF was related to the biological behavior of cervical. The simultaneous overexpression of p73 and p14^ARF have value in diagnostic and prognosis in cervical neoplasm. These proteins maybe use as new markers of cervical neoplasm.
