Objective: To evaluate the clinical effects of combined artificial tears and traditional medicine for menopausic dry eye. Method: Sixty menopausic patients (120 eyes) with dry eye were enrolled in this study. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups (30 cases each). One was treated with artificial tears only and the other group was treated with combined artificial tears and traditional medicine. Their effects were observed and compared. All patients were treated and followed up for one month. Result: The effect in the combined group is significantly better than that in the artificial tears group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Combined artificial tears and traditional medicine for menopausic dry eye is an effective method, which can not only relieve the symptoms of dry eye but improve the quantity and quality of tears by regulation of hormone.
