OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effect of dosage gelatin-artificial tears on tears film stability after phacoemulsification.METHODS:This prospective randomized study involved28consacutive patients with age-related cateract (37eye) who underwent phacoemulsification combined with introcular lens implantation were divided into control group (18eyes with conventional therapy) and treatment group (19eyes with conventional therapy and artificial tears-Systane).Subjective scores for dryness, tear break-up time(BUT) Schiermer test (SIT) values and corneal fluorescein staining were measured preoperatively and1day and7,14,21,28days postoperatively.RESULTS:Compared to the preoperative,Patients’postoperative complaints of dry eye greatly increased, treatment group are evidently lower than control group; Compared to the control group, The treatment group’recovery time of BUT, SIT and corneal fluorescein are shortening. All the difference above-mentioned was statistically significant (p≤0.05)CONCLUSIONS:After phacoemulsification, tears film stability aredescend. After using the artificial tears-Systane,it can lessen the signs and sympotoms of dry eye.It also help the patient to recover and improve the vision quality.
