Methods:100 women with outpatient PMOP were selected and divided into two group according to single blind randomized control method, 70 cases in the Liu Wei Di Haung Wan group and 30 cases in a control group given calcium supplement. None of the subjects had received any medications that treat or affect osteoporosis 6 months prior to the study. The efficacy of treatment was evaluated by analyzing and comparing the bone material content (BMC) and bone mineral density (BMD) of ulna and radius of the two groups, as well as kidney yin vacuity symptoms scores prior to and after treatment. The levels of E2, IL-6 and BGP were also measured six months prior to and after treatment using fasting blood and urine samples. Results:The formula Liu Wei Di Haung Wan supplements the kidneys and enriched yin. It is comprised of Shu Di Haung (Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch), Shan Yao(Dioscorea alata L. var. purpurea.), Shan zhu yu (Cornus florida L.), Fu Lin (Smilax glabra.), Ze Xei (Smilax glabra.) and Dan Pi (Paeonia...
