IntroductionTo investigate the relation of white blood cell count to acute coronary syndrome ( ACS) 3 - year mortality in patients 65 years of age and older.MethodsWe select 195 patients ≥65 years of age admitted with ACS between 1998 and 2001and collect their white blood cell (WBC) count and other clinical data. According to the trichotomy of WBC count, the patients are divided into three groups. Analyze the relation between WBC count and 3 - year mortality.ResultsThe mortality of the middle groups of WBC count is as 2. 89 times as the lower groups of WBC count( 17.90% VS6.20% ,P =0.033 ) and the relative ra-tio(RR) is 1.609,95% confidence interal(95% CI) is 1. 142 -2.266. The mortality of the higher groups of WBC count is as 1. 86 times as the middle groups of WBC count(33.3% VS17.9%,P =0.043),RR = 1.470,95%CI = 1. 042 ~2.073. The mortality of the higher groups of WBC count is as 5.37 times as the lower groups of WBC count(33.3% VS6.2% ,P =0.000) ,RR =2.100, 95% CI = 1. 571 - 2. 807. The theraphy of PCI affects the 3 - year mortality in patients 65 years of age and older obviously. The mortality of patients without PCI is as 4.82 times as that of the patients with PCI in middle groups of WBC...
