| The extract containing a high concentration of β —glucan was obtained from highland barley by using separation and extraction of polysaccharide.According to evaluation methods of functions of healthy foods in China, the regulation of highland barley β —glucan on blood lipid concent combined with its mechanism was investigated in the present paper with hyperlipidemic rat model.The results indicated,1. A yellowish poweder containing 74.3% β —glucan was obtained from highland barley with a output of 7.64%. the extract dissolves in waterbut has a resistance against organ-solvents such as alcohol and acetone.2. After feeded for 4 weeks with fodder containinghigh fat (10% of lard, 1.5% of cholesterol, 0.2% of gallbladder salt, 88.2% of basic fodder), Wistar mouse exhibited significant increases in the concentration of serum TG, TC and decrease in the concentration of serum LDL-C, indicating a rat model with hyperlipidemia was achieved.3. The effects on blood lipids in hyperlipidemic rats(l)The β—glucan of highland barley has significant effect on the concentration of the decreasing blood TC. β —glucan has obvious dosage dependences to reduce function on TC of the hyperlipidemic rats, and the higher the dosage is, the faster the reduce function take place.(2)In 3 dosage groups that the experiment uses, only the high dosage group could reduce the serum TG value of hyperlipidemic rats notably, and in, can only suppress serum TG continuing trend and can't make serum TG value reduce notably.(3) The β —glucan of highland barley can evaluate the HDL-C value of hyperlipidemic rats obviously. Compare 3 dosage groups in the difference of each periods of the experiment, find dosage higher, serum HDL-C content of hyperlipidemic rats afford to rise . The effect of evaluating HDL-C value has obvious dosage dependences. (4) The low dosage groups was failed to reduce the value of serum LDL-C notably at each stages of the experiment. So long as high dosage experiment serum LDL-C of middle period and later period and medium dosage of later period could lower the value of LDL-C significantly , contrast with high fat control group separately. It states highland barley P-glucan has obvious dosage dependences to gather the reducing function on LDL-C hyperlipidemic rats, and with the rising of dosage, the content of LDL-C of hyperlipidemic rats reduces the ground fast. (5) Low dosage, middle dosage and high dosage group can reduce the experiment hyperlipidmic rats' liver TC notably, and middle dosage group and high dosage group can make it resume to the level of the group normally.
