Objective To study the infiltration of dendritic cell(DC) and intercellular adhesion molecule-l(ICAM-l) in patients with cervical carcinoma and to elucidate the relation of their levels with clinical characteristics and metastises of cervical carcinoma. Methods S-P Immunohistochemical method was used to detect DC and ICAM-1 expression in 66 patients with cervical carcinoma and 50 cases of normal and inflammatory cervical tissue. Results All of normal cervical tissues were DC negative and ICAM-1 low level expression. Among the 30 cases of cervical inflammatory tissues, 3 were DC weak-positive and 2 were ICAM-1 high level expression.DC positive rates decreased with the increases of clinical stages, otherwise, ICAM-1 high level expression rates increased. DC and ICAM-1 expressionlevels were not related to pathological tissue classifications. The DC positive rates in patients with lymph node metastases were lower than those without. The ICAM-1 high expression rate in patients with lymph node metastases were higher than those without. DC and ICAM-1 expression levels were related to the 3-year and 5-year survival rates of patients. Conclusion DC and ICAM-1 may play a role in the host immune reaction against carcinoma. The expression of DC and ICAM-1 in cervical carcinoma can serve as a useful indicator in assessing prognosis.Postgraduate: Zhao xiaohua Tutor:Ji xinqiang...
