In our country,it is 48.45% that the benign bone tumors account for the bone tumors and tumorous pathological changes, the age, which the disease occurs, is form 11 to 30, man/woman is about 1. 56- 1. 00, the osteochondroma is the maximum (31. 60% ) ,the second is the giant cell tumor of bone (23.96% ). It is 49. 30% that maliganant tumors account for the bone tumors and tumorous pathological changes, the age, which the disease occurs, is from 11 to 30,the osteosarcoma is the maxi mum (76.21% ). Nowadays,the methods of treating the tumor of bone are very many, including operation, chemic therapeutics , radiative therapeutics, immune therapeutics, therapeutics of Chinese traditional medicine, and so on. C - erbB2 is an oncogene . The C - erbB2 oncogene encodes a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor with extensive homology to the epidermal growth factor receptor. The overexpression of has been found to correlate with human carcinomas such as breast, ovarian, and lung cancers. In breast cancer, C - erbB2 is involved in tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis . In osteosarcoma, the biologic and clinical significance of C - erbB2 expression is less clear. Turner angiogenic activity is an important process linked to tumor growth, progression, and metastasis. Immunohistochemistry with antibodies that were directed against the endothelial cells permitted light microscopic evaluation and precise morphometric determination of MVD as being a marker of angiogene-sis. And tumor microvascular density may be related with a potential prognostic and pulmonary metastases indicator in osteosarcoma. The aim of the experence is to investigate the expression of C - erbB2 and MVD in osteosarcoma, as well toexplore their relationship and clinical significance.Materials and MethodsC - erbB2 and MVD were detected by S - P immunohistochemical method in 31 cases of paraffin - embedded sections of osteosarcoma. At the same time,I took 30 cases of paraffin - embedded sections of osteochondroma as control groups,and conformed if there was difference between the two groups and discussed the significance.ResultsThe positive rate of C - erbB2 (70% ) in human osteosarcoma was significantly higher than osteochondroma (20% ). The expression of micro vessel density in human osteosarcoma (41. 58 ± 19. 01) was significantly higher than that of osteochondroma(9.20 ±5.68). There was a signifinant correlation between the expression of C - erbB2 and microvessel density. C - erbB2 expression and mi-crovessel density in ostoesarcomas with lung metastasis was higher than that in osteosarcomas without lung metastasis( P < 0.01).DiscussionThe C - erbB2 oncogene encodes a transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptor with extensive homology to the epidermal growth factor receptor.
