Expression of Adhension Molecule CD146and microvessel density in Renal Cell Carcinoma and Its Clinical Signif icanceObjective:To explore the relationship between CD146(MCAM), microvessel density of Renal cell carcinoma and its clinic-pathology, and to explore their correlation with clinicopathologic parameter of RCC.Methods:Immunohistochemisty was employed to determine the expression of CD146and microvessel density (MVD) in43RCC tissues and normal renal tissues. With anti-CD146McAb(monoclonal antibody) and anti-CD34McAb,immunohistochemistry was used to study the expression of CD146and the tumor MVD in43cases of RCC and in20cases of normal renal tissue as controls. Results:The positive expression of CD146in renal cell carcinoma tissue (90.70%) was remarkably higher than that normal renal tissue(30%)(P<0.0001)。The expression of CD146was not correlated with category of renal cell carcinoma(χ2=1.3713)(average P>0.001), contrasting to the tumor volume(χ2=7.5701) and significant correlation to clinical stage(r=0.61616) and metastasis of renal cell carcinoma(χ2=19.9898)(P<0.001)。The MVD of renal cell carcinoma tissue (78.00±23.10/200HP) was significantly higher than that of normal renal tissue (3.05±7.93/200HP), The MVD of CD146was not correlated with the tumor volume (t=1.33) and category of renal cell carcinoma (t=1.46)(average P>0.001), contrasting to significant correlation to clinical stage (t=2.37) and metastasis ofrenal cell carcinoma (t=2.10)(P<0.001). There was a positive correlation between expression of CD146and MVD in renal cell carcinoma(r=0.74482, P<0.0001).Conclusion:The overexpression of CD146in renal cell carcinoma have a significant relation with tumor angiogenesis. The expression of CD146and angiogenesis might serve as an important indicator of malignancy the development, progress and metastasis of renal cell carcinoma.
