[Abstract] Objective To investigate the diagnosis, treatment and clinical features of gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST). Methods We retrospectively analyzed 45 patients with GIST treated in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, medical college of Zhejiang University. Results There were 24 males and 21 famales with average age of 54 years. Tumors located in stomach in 20 cases(44.4%), small intestine in 15 cases (33.3%), and duodenum in 6 cases(13.3%), colon in 4 case(8.9%). 44 patients were treated surgically. Histology diagnosed as benign humor in 11 cases(24.4%), malignant in 19 cases(42.3%), boderline in 15 cases(33.3%). Conclusion (1) Clinical symptoms for patients of GIST have no specific. (2) The size , the location, rupture, splitting, c-kit mutation of the tumor and completely resection are correlated with the prognosis of GIST significantly. (3) first treatmrnt of complete resection is very importment for the prognosis of GIST.
