Objective: To explore the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of gastric stromal tumors (GSTs). Methods: 25 patients with gastric stromal tumors were analyzed retrospectively. The information of general conditions, clinical manifestation, endoscope, pathology, treatment and recurrence was assessed in these patients. Results: The ratio of male and female patients were 1:2.1, The mean age was (51.8±13.2) years. Most of them were malignant. The main manifestations of GSTs were abdominal malaise and upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. The distribution of GSTs is fundus(56%)>body(32%)>antrum(12%). In 22 patients who accepted gastroscopic diagnosis, 19(86.4%) had tumors were discovered. 23 patients were undergone operation , 2 patients were received exploratory laparotomy. Conclusions:. Patients usually present with nonspecific symptoms. The location of tumors, sizes of tumors in gastroscopy and the immunophenotype are not predictors of the malignancy of GSTs. The operative treatment is thought of the first choice. Gender of patients, character and sizes of tumors were found to be important indicators of prognosis.
