Objective: To investigate the status of progressive multifocal lens (PML) wearing among myopic teenagers and comparing to wearing normal glasses, analysis its affect on ocular measures and the development of myopia. Methods: 41 teenages wearing mutifocal lens were collected into mutifocal lens group and anther 42 normal glasses wearing teenagers were selected as normal control group randomly. We reviewde their documents and exam all patients. The examination include refraction, strabismus ( exophoria was noted down with negtive, and esophoria with postive ) ,eye axial length, postive relative accommodation and negative relative accommodation. The results were compared with those of normal glasses wearing controls. Results: More multifocal lens wearing teenagers had good feeling on their glasses.the multifocal lens group's average development of refractive error is -0.27+0.26Ds/y, axial length is 26.25+1.18mm,distant strabismus is-2.27+1.82A,near strabismus is -1.33+3.09A, being added +1.00Ds lens the strabismus at 40cm is -3.79+3.45A,AC/Aratio is 2.46+1.15,the postive relative accommodation is -1.09+0.32Ds and the negative relative accommodation is +1.92+0.65Ds. Compared to the normal control group, the average development of refractive error is slower, the axial length is shorter, the AC/A ratio is lower and the postive relative accommodation is lower(P < 0.05). Conclusion:The progressive multifocal lens can alleviate the symtom of eyes tiredness among the myopic teenagers and slowen the myopic devolepment.Wearing the multifocal lens can lead the AC/A ratio decrease. After wearing progressive lens for long time, the teenagers' accommodation responses could be stagnant.
