Abstract/Summary:
Objective: To investigate the expression of p27,cyclinE protein in gastriccarcinoma (GC) and precancerous lesion and the correlation between these proteins expression and the clinico-pathological features of GC.Methods: 20 samples of normal gastric mucosa (NGM), 20 samples of chronicsuperficial gastritis (CSG), 20 samples of chronic atrophia gastritis (CAG)with metaplasia, 20 samples of CAG with dysplasia and 60 cases of GC were immunohistochemically stained for p27 and cyclinE protein expression and their correlation to clinicopathologic data-were analysed. Results: The positive rate of cyclinE and p27 protein expression in GC were40%(24/60) and 38.3%(23/60). Respectively, the expression of cyclinE was significantly correlated with tumor differentiation, infiltration and stage, while the expression of p27 protein was significantly correlated with tumor infiltration, lymph nodes metastasis, histological grade and stage. Further more, the expression of cyclinE was inversely correlated with the expression of p27.Conclusion: Detection of cyclinE and p27 expression in GC may be determining tumor progression.
