Objective Though testing IL-6 and TNF- in Ovariectomied Rats Model and Cervical Spondylosis Model's Cervical Intervertebral Disc and Serum,to observe the expression of cytokins in two sort of model's Cervical Intervertebral Discs and Serum,in order to discover the mechanism of correlation between Osteoprosis and Cervical Spondylosis,find the new mechanism of Cervical Spondylosis and provide new way to prevent and treat Cervical Spondylosis .Methods Thirty seven months old female SD rats,weighed 250 20g each, were randomly divided into three groups,ten rats in each group.The first group underwent ovariectomy,the second was made into cervical Spondylosis model, the third sham operation.Feeding them in normal condition under 21-23 C temperature for 3 months,then all them were sacrificed to pricure blood and cervical intervertibral discs specimens for testing the contents of IL-6 and TNF- a in each specimen by means of Radioimmunoassay. Results The serum IL-6 and TNF- a levels in the first group were significantly higher than that of the other groups(P < 0.01),the cervical intervertebral disc IL-6 and TNF- a levels in it were lower than that of the second group(P < 0.05),but were higher than that of the third group(P < 0.05).The cervical intervertebral disc IL-6 and TNF- a levels in second group were significantly higher than that of third group(P < 0.01),but there were no difference between their serum's IL-6 and TNF- a levels(P > 0.05). Conclusion (1)The IL-6 and TNF- a levels in osteoprosis rats modle's serum were significantly higher than that of normal rats.(2)The contents of IL-6 and TNF- a in discs of degenerated cervical vertebral rats model were significantly higher thanthat of normal rats.(3)The contents of IL-6 and TNF- a in cervical vertebal discs of osteoprosis rats model were higher than that of normal rats.(4)There were no differences between the IL-6 and TNF- a levels in serum in degenerated vertebral discs rats model and normal rats.(5)Because the contents of IL-6 and TNF- a in cervical vertebal discs are hundreds of times than that of in serum, this kind of exterier cytokins don't play a important role to cause intervertebral discs degeneration. (6) Cytokins may be the important media between osteoprosis and cervical spondylosis'correlation. (7) Osteoprosis can cause cervical intervertebral discs degeneration ,so it may be an important factor for Cervical Spondylosis.
