Objective: To study the role of PR-A and PR-B in endometrial carcinomasMethods: 25 cases of endometrial carcinoma, 8 cases of endometrial intraepithelial neoplasia (EIN)and 10 cases of normal endometrium were studied which were admitted to the Department of Gynecology , Su zhou Medical College Affiliated 3th Hospital during March 1998 to December 2002 All patients didn't receiver chemotherapy or hormone treatment beforeoperation PR-A and PR-B were analysed using immunohistochemistry in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue. The status of PR-A and PR-B were compared to clinico-pathological characteristics of endometrial carcinomasResult: PR-A and PR-B were located in cellular nuclear. The positive expression rate of PR-A and PR-B was 90% of normal endometrium which was similar to EIN , the positive expression rate of PR-A and PR-B ofendometrial carcinoma was 44% and 28% respectively, which all were significantly lower than those of EIN and normal endometrium (P<0.05)PR-A and PR-B expression were obviously associated with early tumor stage (P<0.05) and well differentiation (P<0.05).Conclusion: The results show that PR-A and PR-B were nuclear receptors and were associated with early tumor stage and well differentiation It could predict the prognosis and endocrinotherapy effect for endometrial carcinoma...
