On Doctors' Moral Sensibilities And It's Cultivation

It is necessary in medical practice and theory research to study doctors moral sensibilities and cultivate doctors' healthy and active sensibilities. One side, medical technology and market economy benefit people s heath but they result in the losing of humanism spirit and doctors-patients' conflict. Harmonious doctor-patient relationship relies on not only laws, but also normal and healthy doctor-patient's sensibilities. To improve doctor-patient relationship, we must proceed with cultivating and advancing doctors' sensibilities. On the other hand, now bioethics research focuses the basic principles and the new ethics issues brought by contemporary advanced medical, but it ignores the most practical and universalizable ethics research of doctor-patient relationship. In bioethics research we must strengthen the research of doctor-patient relationship especially of doctors' sensibilities.Doctor-patient relationship is a sort of ethical relationship that is an objective premise of studying doctors' sensibilities. Doctors' sensibilities are a highly self-conscious and thorough sensibilities experience or attitude, in which doctors must conform to the ethics aspect, care and respect for patients' life value and personality dignity. Doctors' sensibilities have three different characteristics. Firstly, the doctors' sensibilities are more rational because they relate to the principles and rules of medical treatment and doctors' clinic thinking. Secondly, the doctors' sensibilities are more thorough because they develop from doctors experiencing with patients' sufferings of body and mind. Finally, the doctors' sensibilities pay more attention to achieving success in caring for patients. Doctors' sensibilities are rich and colorful, in which the most essential and important sensibilities are sympathy, responsibility, care and respecting for patients' life value and personality dignity.Doctors' moral sensibilities are the important support of medicalhumanism spirit. Doctors' moral sensibilities develop gradually from social education and cultivation. It has two aims: shaping high-minded moral personality and establishing harmonious doctor-patient relationship. The cultivation of doctors' sensibilities must start with society, medical school, hospital and doctor individual. Namely, we must insist on sane, just, practical and realistic public opinion. Furthermore, we must construct good hospital circumstance and the doctors must exert subjective initiative to perfect their individual morality.
