Objective To validate the Chinese version of the Job Content Questionnaire (C-JCQ) (version 1.5).Methods Translate the English JCQ into Chinese and retranslate. Use the Chinese version to measure the psychosocial environment of the doctors and nurses from two general provincial hospitals of Yunnan (N=320). Retest 24 random samples in one week. The reliability and validity were examined. Results: The retranslating accuracy is 95%. Response rate is 92.8%(N=297). The JCQ has 8 subscales, consisting of 49 items. The internal consistency reliabilitis (Cronbach's a )of the 8 subscales ranged from 0.52 to 0.86. The test-retest reliability of the 8 subscales ranged form 0.874 to 0.968. The factor analyses disclosed 8 empirical factors, which corresponded closely with theoretical constructs of the JCQ except job insecurity subscale. Conclusion: These findings indicated that the C-JCQ is reliable and valid for assessing psychosocial work conditions among health professionals, although further improvement is needed for the macro-level decision authority and job insecurity subscals.
