The Relationship Between Tumor Necrosis Factor A-308 Gene Polymorphism And Susceptibility Of Severe Chronic Periodontitis In Kasak Adults From Yili Of Xinjiang

Purpose: To investigate the relationship between tumor necrosis factor A-308 gene polymorphism and susceptibility of severe chronic periodontitis in Kasak adults from Yili of Xinjiang.Methods: Buccal swabs from 45 adult patients with severe chronic periodontitis and 85 periodontal healthy adult controls were obtained. DNA was extracted from each sample using Chelex-100 method, then PCR-RFLP was performed to determine the TNFA-308 genotype. Data were analyzed by statistics software. Results: Examination of the TNFA-308 typepolymorphism in these populations revealed a advantage of 1/1 genotype in all, but the advantage in the allele 1 frequency in patients with severe chronic periodontitis compared to referent subjects failed to reach significance(x 2=0. 0906; P=0.7634>0. 05).Conclusion: This study suggested that TNFA-308 genotype has no relationship with susceptibility of severe chronic periodontitis in Kasak adults from Yili of Xinjiang.
