| Acute leukemia is a kind of hematopoietic system malignant hyperplasia disease, which threaten peoples' lives and health seriously. Combined chemotherapy and transplantation of bone marrow have been applied in mordem medicine. However, side-effects, toxic reactions of chemotherapeutic drugs, multi-drug resistance and relapse become all patients' big problems. TCM combined West Medicine does a lot. Through clinical observations of three years, we found that YiQiYangYin formula combined with chemotherapy has notable curative effect. The CR rate and total rate of ALL reach 57.1%,78.6%,AML has a CR rate of 75% and a total rate of 83.3%.It obviously improve the existent conditions of patients and decrease such appearance of side-effects as nausea, vomiting, arrest of bone marrow. External experimental research in HL-60 and NB4 cell indicates that YiQiYangYin formula can restrain the multiplication of the two kinds of cells and induce apoptosis. One of the mechanisms is to reduce the expression of the apoptosis restrained protein Bcl-2.Another important way may be by working on telomerase activity. Research indicates that YiQiYangYin formula can improve the curative effect of chemotherapy. The external experimental prove that inducing apoptosis and effecting telomerase activity are one important part of its mechanism.
