Objection: To observe the clinical effect and clarify the mechanisms of Fufangcangerchong ointment( FFCECO ) for treating shallow second degree burn wounds .Methods: we painted the ointment on the normal rabbit's skin directly to observe the stimulation and hypersensitivity , in the experimental group 10 experimental rabbit were treated by FFCECO , while the control group have 3 group , each group have 10 experimental rabbit too ,their experimental rabbit were treated by JinWanHong( JWH ), JiZhi( JZH ), 0.9%sodium-chloride . and we have measured the bacteriostatic extent, MIC, MBC in the bacteriostatic tests ; In the treatment group 15 patients were treated by FFCECO , while 15 cases in the control group by JWH.Results : In experimental study we found that FFCECO had not any stimulation and can not cause any allergic reaction to normal rabbit's skin, after treatment the action of relieving the signs and symptoms in the experimental group was similar to JWH control group (p>0.05 ), but better than JZH control group and sodium-chloride control group ( p<0.01 ); the time of healing in the experimental group(6.90+0.32 days)has not difference to the JWH control group(7.00 + 0.47 days, P>0.05); while quicker than the JZH controlgroup(13.50+1.58 days) and the sodium-chloride control group(14.20+1.23 days, P0.01); the action of controlling infection in the experimental group was similar to the JWH control group (p>0.05); but was better than the others control group (p<0.01); the bacteriostatic tests showed the inhibitory action to golden-staphylococcus and leuko-oidiomy in the experimental group was as strong as to JWH control group (p>0.05);but the inhibitory action to colon-bacillus and pseudomonas-aeruginosa in the experimental group was worse than the inhibitory action in JWH control group (p<0.05); FFCECO'S MIC and MBC to golden-staphylococcus was 1:16 and 1:2 ; to leuko-oidimy was 1:4 and 1:1 ; to colon-bacillus was 1:4 and 1:1 . Clinical observation showed that the effect of relieving the pain in the treatment group (17.60 +5.65 minutes) was similar to JWH control group (20.20 + 7.55 minutes, p>0.05); the time of healing in the treatment group(8.06+1.22 days) was similar to JWH control group(8.33 + 1.38 days,p>0.05); the effect of relieving signs and symptoms in the treatment group was similar to the control group(p>0.05); but we found that the two group had good effect to the shallow second degree burn wound(p<0.01).Conclusion: In the experimental study and clinical observation of treating shallow second degree burn wounds , the effect of the FFCECO in controlling infection , reducing the time of healing , relieving the signs and symptoms ,relieving the pain were similar to JWH. The mechanisms of action was improving microcirculation, promoting phagocyte effusion and hyperplasia, regulating immune function so as to relieve the pain, control the infection, facilitate the wounds necrotic tissue to liquefy and remove, promote the relic normal skin tissue to regenerate and rehabilitate in moist environment.
