Objective By the study of the asymmetry of cerebral medulla on the coronal segments, we discussed and demonstrated the practicality and reliability of localizing gyrus by the medullary processes and widened the anatomical knowledge about the telence-phalic coronal section.Material and Methods Choosing 30 normal cadaver heads, taking the sphenoidale plane as the base line and get some films by MRIjcanning with 5 mm coronal section. Taking off the brain from the scanned cadaver heads, then painting the major cerebral gyri in different colors. Cutting the brain into slices in correspondence with MR scanned picture then observe the medullary processes' number, branches, thickness, distort and their direction and so on. Measuring the areas of the medullary center and analysis and study the observed data. Results and Conclusions On the cerebral coronal sections, the medullary processes of callosal convolution, gyri hippocampi, cuneate lobe, precuneus, medial occipito-temporal and lateral occipitotemporal gyri are symmetrical, while the other medullary processes are asymmetrical. The medullary processes asymmetry are chiefly that the number is unequal, and the bifurcation ,thickness, twist and the direction of medullary processes are asymmetrical. The bilateral medullary processes' number of marginal convolution, medifrental gyri, gyri subfrontalis, gyri temporal superior, meditemporal gyri, superfrontal convolution, callosal convolution, cuneate lobe, precuneus, medial occipitotemporal and lateral occipitotemporal gyri are mostly equal, and as for anterior central convolution, ascending parietal gyri, lobuli paracentralis, lobuli parietalis superior, gyri circumflexus, gyrus angularis, their bilateral medullary processes' number are mostly unequal. As for anterior central convolution, ascending parietal gyri, lobuli paracentralis, lobuli parietalis superior, gyri circumflexus, gyrus angularis, their disparities of the bilateral medullary processes' number are significance in the statistics. And other disparities of the bilateral medullary processes' number are insignificance in the statistics. So it is sure and practical to localize gyrus with medullary processes, asfor marginal convolution, medifrontal gyri, gyri subfrontalis, gyri temporalis superior, meditemporal gyri, superfrontal convolution, callosal convolution, cuneate lobe, precu-neus, medial occipitotemporal and lateral occipitotemporal gyri. They can be localized by the central fissure, vertical sulci and postcentralis, as for anterior central convolution, ascending parietal gyri, lobuli paracentralis. But it is defective in the credibility and the applicability to localize gyrus with medullary processes as for lobuli parietalis superior, gyri circumflexus, gyri angularis. The anterior and posterior central convolution can be localized through the central fissure, precentral sulci and postcentral fissure, though their medullary processes are asymmetry. As for lobuli parietalis superior, gyri circumflexus, gyrus angularis, they are not only the number difference are significance in the statistics, but also the numbers aren't centralized. So the localization by the medullary processes is not sure. The area disparities of the medulla central area are significance in the statistics. So it is should be known in the eikonic diagnosis. Our study confirm that the way to localize gyrus with medullary processes is also credibility and applicability on the coronal plane of the brain.
