Mandibular deviation is a complex deformity, which is common in clinical practice. It has effects not only on the facial appearance, but also on the occlusal function and the cervical posture, eventually leads to temporomandibular joint disorder syndrome. Mandibular deviation will gradually aggravate with the growth and development. If it was not treated early, skeletal deformity would occur.During the recent years, many scholars have conducted researches and found that patients with mandibular deviation have different mandibular length. In these patients, mandibular deviation can cause torso and craniofacial muscles disorders, hence causing the pain of head and neck, muscle rigidity and other symptoms which are often accompanied by the asymmetry of head and neck, shoulder, waist and other parts of the body. Previous studies often focused on the symmetry of the mandible morphology and its relationship with cervical posture in the sagittal direction. However, the morphology of spine coronal plane and trunk balance in adult patients with mandibular deviation are still unclear. This experiment is to study the morphology of spine coronal plane and trunk balance in adult patients with mandibular deviation and find the difference between them and normal samples.1. Study on the morphology of spine coronal plane in adults patients with mandibular deviation10 cases of normal occlusion and 35 cases of adult patients with skeletal mandibular deviation were taken full spine films and skull anteroposterior films. The results indicated that the spin coronal morphology of mandibular deviation demonstrated "S" type curve, the control group showed the straight line parallel with the gravity line, both have the statistically significant difference (p <0.01). This suggests that mandibula deviation may lead to the changes of spine coronal plane. In addition, the cervical segment bending of spin was different with the direction of mandibular deviation but the trunk bending section of spin has the same orientation with it. This suggests that the direction of mandibular deviation have the correlation with the bending of spin. We should pay attention to correction the sitting posture. Great attention should be paid and active treatment is necessary.2. Study on trunk balance in adults patients with mandibular deviation10 cases of normal occlusion and 35 cases of adult patients with skeletal mandibular deviation were taken full spine films and skull anteroposterior films. The results indicated that the balance of mandibular deviation were disturbed (imbalance angle> 1°), the balance of normal occlusion were within the normal range (imbalance angle <1°), there was significant difference between them (p <0.01). Moreover, the degree of scoliosis and shoulder imbalance were correlated with the degree of mandibular deviation, and presented a linear trend. This suggests that the degree of mandibular deviation is correlated with abnormal posture of patients such as sitting and walking. Great attention should be paid in our clinical practice.
