The expression of vasculareadothelia1 gTowth factor in the..gingiva of periodontitis patentsAbstract0bjective: To observe the expression ofvascular endothe1ial growth factor (VEGF) inthe gingiva of periodontitis patents and there1ation between VEGF and c1inic index. Methods: l5 norma1 gingiva (non--hermorrgic-.gingiva adjacent to awt3. 5mm gingiva su1cus)and 33 inf1amed gingiva (hemorrhagic gingivaadjacent to a<3. 5m, 3. 5 to 5. 5mm, orx5. 5nunperiodonta1 pocket) were studied Theexpression of VEGF and CD3. was determinedusing antibody against VEGF and CD3. bystandardized immunohistochistry (SABC)Pancreatin digest was used for retreva1 ofantigen in paraffin--embedded tissues. The.expression of VEGF was observed and the numberof b1ood vessels were determined by imageana1ysis system.Result: The number of b1ood vesse1s wassignificant higher in the groups of adjacent3. 5 to 5. 5 nun and adjacent >5. 5mm periodonta1pocket than the groups of norma1 andadjacent to ar3. 5m (hemorrhagic) gingivaIsul Cu S. When divided the inflamed group by the number of blood vessels into high number blood vessels group and low number blood vessels group, higher expression of VEGF was observed in high number blood vessels group. Conclusion: the number of blood vessels was increased in periodontitis gingival tissue, and there may be some relationship among the number of blood vessels the expression of VEGF and GI.
