A set of 24 markers located on 12 rice chromosomes with two markers on each chromosome were selected and be used to construct the fingerprinting of 189 rice varieties in this study.The database of 189 rice varieties fingerprinting system was constructed by computer- software,from which we get the fingerprinting identification of all the rice varieties.Those primers detected 132 alleles among 189 rice with an average of 5.5 alleles for each SSR primer. PIC (polymorphic index content) values ranged from 0.119 to 0.734 and PIC value is 0.572 on the average,which indicate that SSR primers have strong ability to distinguish varieties. Cluster analysis by UPGMA classified 189 varieties into six groups based on genetic similarity, which was coincident with the heterotic groups determined by their pedigree analysis.The fingerprinting system privdes stage and standard for varietal identification.It is convenient to establish genetic files and provide reliable evidence for intellectual property rights protection and varietal identification.
