It is difficult to control anesthetic levels when narcotic drugs are used for ruminants. The anesthetic level is always difficult to control and can cause regurgitation and aspiration of ruminal contents or saliva into the lung. Excessive anesthesia and delayed revival harm their health. So far, no medicine can satisfy ruminants' anesthesia completely. Enflurane has been shown to anesthetic effect, anesthesia smooth and fast awake. But when it was excessive used on goats physiological and biochemical effects larger. Enflurane have been widely used in the medical profession, but it less used in the veterinary profession in ruminant animals because of high prices. China's veterinary surgeon studied to find that acupuncture anesthesia could produce better anesthetic effectiveness for ruminants such as goats and catties in 1960 s. Acupuncture anesthesia (AA) which has advantages of less physiological indifference, less syndroe and fast recuperation, However, AA also has its disadvantages such as incomplete analgesia, muscle tension and visceral pulling reaction. The medical researches has shown that acupuncture balanced anesthesia (ABA) can overcome the above shortcomings of AA, and also can improve body immune function. It has managed to maintain the superiority of acupuncture anesthesia and to overcome the shortcomings of the simple acupuncture anesthesia, but it also can reduce excessive use of narcotic drugs on the side effects of the volume of the body, reducing the cost of anesthesia. However, researches on anesthetic effectiveness of electro-acupuncture (EA) combined with enflurane and its effect on physiological and biochemical values in goats have not reported. In order to find a optimal anesthesia method which can be better applied for goats, and to lay a foundation of veterinary clinical application of electro-acupunture combined with drugs, anesthetic effectiveness of electro-acupuncture combined with drugs and its effect on serumbiochemical values in goats were studied.24 healthy adult hybrid goats were randomly divided into four groups, including enflurane group, electro-acupuncture group, electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group and the control group. Goats were placed endotracheal intubate before anesthesia. Stimulation of "baihui santai" and "ergen sanyangluo" points with 36 Hz and 1.0-1.5V induced anesthesia in EA-treated groups and electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group, EA lasted for 65 min. goats were induced anesthesia in 1% enflurane at first and increased to 2.5% concentration in 3min to maintain anesthesia in enflurane group; goats were induced anesthesia in electro-acupuncture at first and increased to 1.7% enflurane concentration in 3min to maintain anesthesia in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group; The heart rate(RR), rectal temperature were observed with PM-9000 portable multi-parameter monitor and mean arterial pressure (MAP) by electronic sphygmomanometer at 0,1,2,3,4,5,10,15,20,25,30,35 and 40 min after the ventilation(or 0,26,27,28,29,30,35,40,45,50,55,60 and 65 min after electro-acupuncture stimulation) Venous blood samples were taken at 0 and 40min (or 65 minutes induction of anaesthesia), 1d, 2d, 4d and 8d after the enflurane inhalation. Creatinine (CRE), urea aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in serum were measured using RT-1904C semi-automatic biochemical analyzer in each group.1 Study on anesthesia effectiveness and physiological indexes of electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane in goats. The pain attenuated of shoulders, back, chest, abdominal and hip at 25min after electro-acupuncture stimulation, especially in the abdomen and buttocks pain to the, but the reflection of the eyelids and cornea existed. The pain in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group disappearanced of head, muscle relaxation, the eyelids, corneal reflex and neck, back, abdomen and lips, coronet when enflurane concentration was 1.7%There is pain with acupuncture coronet response and eyelid reflex recovery when enflurane inhalation was stopped at an average of 4-9 min. Enflurane group of goats, when the effective concentration of enflurane 2.5% to make the pain disappear and all kinds of reflex in goats also disappeared.RR in enflurane group was significant greater than that in the control group at 2 min after the enflurane inhalation and RR was the fastest at 3 min. Then RR gradually slowed down .RR was becoming more and more normal and electrocardiogram (ECG) changed equability after 4 min. RR in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group was significant less than that in enflurane group at 3 min after the Enflurane inhalation but significantly greater than electro-acupuncture group the control group . These results indicate that enflurane impact greater in early after the Enflurane inhalation and RR changed equability after anesthesia. RR in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group was less than enflurane group. The body temperature decreased significantly in enflurane group, electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group and electro-acupuncture group after the enflurane inhalation, It decreased significantly in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group at 4,5,10,15,20,25,30,35 and 40 min after the enflurane inhalation and decreased signifieantly in enflurane group at 5,10,15,20,25,30,35 and 40 min after the enflurane inhalation, but it in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group was significant less than that in electro-acupuncture group at 5,10,15,20,25,30,35 and 40 min after the Enflurane inhalation.Mean arterial pressure decreased in enflurane group and electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group. But it was no significant differnce in each group, these results indicate that enflurane can decrease blood pressure.2 Effect of electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane on serum biochemical values in goatsAST activities in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group increased at 40 min and 1day after the enflurane inhalation, but it was no significant differennot. AST activities in enflurane group significantly increased at 40 min and 1day after the enflurane inhalation, and it was the.normal range from the 2day. AST activities in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group was lower than that in the enflurane group at 40 min and 1day after the Enflurane inhalation , but it was higher than electro-acupuncture group, it was no significant difference in each group. AST activities in electro-acupuncture group were not significantly different from that in the control group.ALT activities in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group increased at 1day after the enflurane inhalation. ALT activities in enflurane group significantly increased at 40 min after the enflurane inhalation, but it was signifieantly higher than that in electro-acupuncture group at 1day. ALT activities in electro-acupuncture group were not significantly different from that in the control group. ALT activities in electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group signifieantly lower at 1day after the enflurane inhalation that in enflurane group, but it was signifieantly higher than that in electro-acupuncture group. Creatinine and urea was no significant difference in each group. The study indicated that electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group reduced the effect of on heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, AST, ALT, UREA, CRE. AST, ALT, UREA and CRE serum biochemical indicators are reflected in key indicators of liver and kidney functions, therefore the can reduce the impact of goat liver and kidney function. Anesthetic effect was similar between electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane group concentration of enflurane 1.7 % and enflurane group concentration of enflurane 2.5%, Therefore it can reduce to the 32 % of enflurane concentration, thus significantly reduced the amount of enflurane, and effectively reduced the cost of anesthesia. It can be seen that electro-acupuncture combined with enflurane is a relatively safe and reliable economic ruminants' new method of anesthesia.
