On the basis of Henan tobacco-growing areas, the total nitrogen content (TN), nicotine content (Nic) and the ratio of total nitrogen to nicotine (TN/Nic) of flue-cured tobacco were analyzed, and the comparisons between Henan and high-quality tobacco-growing areas aboard were conducted. Applying membership function and estimating weight values for each index by using the method of principal component analysis, the comprehensive evaluation of TN, Nic and TN/Nic were evaluated. The relationship between TN, Nic, TN/Nic and main chemical components, physical properties, main volatile aroma components, sensory evaluation of flue-cured tobacco leaves were also analyzed. The main results were as follows:1. On the basis of 4 grades (B2F, C2F, C3F, and X2F) of 177 tobacco samples from Henan tobacco-growing areas, TN, Nic and TN/Nic were totally analyzed by using descriptive statistics methods. The results indicated that: the tobacco leaves in Henan tobacco-growing areas had medium Nic (2.83%), but a few samples were on the low side or a little high, there still exist divisions compared with high-quality tobacco-growing areas aboard. TN was suitable (2.25%), but part samples were on the low side or the high side. TN/Nic was suitable (0.81), there were 14.69% samples of which TN/Tic>1, but the distribution of TN/Tic and Nic had a big variation.2. On the basis of 4 grades (B2F, C2F, C3F, and X2F) of 1533 tobacco samples from 5 domestic typical provinces tobacco-growing areas, the difference of TN, Nic and TN/Tic in flue-cured tobacco between Henan and high-quality tobacco-growing areas aboard were analyzed. The results indicated that: Nic in Henan tobacco-growing areas was significant higher than Yunnan, Guizhou, Fujian, but had no significant difference with Shandong; TN in Henan tobacco-growing areas was higher than Yunnan, Guizhou, Fujian, but had no significant difference with Shandong; TN/Nic in Henan tobacco-growing areas was lower than Yunnan, Guizhou significantly, but had no significant difference with Shandong. Nic of Henan was lower than Zimbabwe (3.36%) and Brazil (3.15%) significantly. As for TN, it had significant difference with Zimbabwe and Brazil, but for TN/Nic, it had no significant difference with Zimbabwe and Brazil.3. Based on 177 tobacco samples in Henan tobacco-growing areas, the difference of TN, Nic, TN/Nic of flue-cured tobacco leaves among different cultivars, different stalk positions, different growing areas and different years were analyzed. The results showed that: Nic among different cultivars was Yunyan85>K326>Yunyan87> Zhongyan100>Zhongyan101, lower leaf
