Based on the current application of gardens color-leafed ground cover plantsin Suzhou ,this research selected Ligustrum quihoui 'Vicaryi' . Loropetalum chinensevar. rubrum. Photinia×fraseri'Red Robin',Euonymus japonicuscv. Ovatus Aureus,Vinca majorcv. Variegata, Hedera hetix'Goldchild' .Euonymus fortunei'Emerald Gold'Euonymus fo rtunei 'EmeraldGaiety' .Euonymusfortunei' Argenteo-marginata' etc, whichas nine kinds of plants to be tested ,Through the cold-resistance evaluation on thesecolor-leafed ground cover plants and the evaluation of physiology and biochemistryindex, the research has summarized the cold-resistance order of them ,In order toprovide theoretical referrences for their better application in Suzhou. Meanwhile .thisresearch also probed into the disposition of color-leafed ground coverplants ,discussing the principle and methods of the disposition ,The main results wereas follows:1. There are 29 types of the common color-leafed ground cover plants in Suzhou,which belong to 16 different sections, they can be divided into 18 types of frequentlyused color leaf plants, 6 types of spring color leaf and 5 types of autunm color leafplants .The frequently used color leaf plants have the largeest applicated area .themain disposition methods are block ,basic plantation,clump,patch and so on.2. Under low temperature stress ,the biochemistry metabolize index the content ofthe soluble sugar.the soluble protein, free praline, the activities of catalase and thesuperoxide mutant ferment and the content of the membrane lipid peroxidization areall dramatically changed.As a whole, compared with the control ,their contentdecreased with the decreasing of temperature. Combining the field observations, thedifferent content was related to the cold-hardiness in the field.3. Through the test of evaluation on the nine kinds of color-leafed ground coverplants, the results indicated: low temperature had significant effect on the electrolytepasses rate, the membrane penetration had a increasing with the temperaturedeclining, but the range is different, which can be a index to appraise cold-resistanceof plants.4.The cold-resistance order of nine color-leafed ground cover plants isPhotinia×fraseri'Red Robin>Euonymus japonicuscv. Ovatus Aureus>Ligustrumquihoui'Vicaryi>Hedera helix'Goldchild'>Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum>Euonymus fortunei'Emerald Gold'>Euonymus fortunei'Emerald Gaiety'>Euonymus fortunei'Argenteo-marginata'>Vinca majorcv.
