It has already become an urgent task for the production of high-qualityflue-cured tobacco to improve efficiency of fertilizer utilization, reduce the amount ofapplication of chemical fertilizer, and improve the growth environment of the tobacco. In this thesis the variety G80 and five fertilizing ways included single-layer fertilizingway(A), double-layer fertilizing way(B), "101" fertilizing way(C), cave-like fixedposition fertilizing way(D), and timing fertilizing according to the amount of singleplant(E), were used to study the effects of different methods of appling fertilizer onthe growth development, yield and quality characteristics of the flue-cured tobacco. The principal results were as follows: (1) The fertilizing ways have significant effectson the growth development of the flue-cured tobacco. Among the treatments,"101"fertilizing way gave the flue-cured tobacco the highest plant height, largeststem width, green leaf numbers, maximum leaf area and leaf weight, and drymatter accumulation due to the fertilizing way supplying enough nutrients for theplant growth in earlier stage of the tobacco. (2)The fertilizing ways have obviouseffects on the quality and output value of the flue-cured tobacco. Treatment "101"showed relatively higher in contents of candy and potassium, and coordinateproportions of candy/nicotine, potassium/chlorine, total nitrogen / nicotine, and thehighest proportion of the high quality tobacco leaf and the highest averageprice.(3)The fertilizing methods affect the nutrient use efficiency. The single-layerfertilizing method has the lowest fertilizer use efficiency during the flue-curedtobacco growth stages, and has relatively higher soil remaining rate. WhileTreatment"101" has the comprehensive effect of increasing soil nutrient supply, improving fertilizer use efficiency, and enhancing the product output of tobacco. Thusthe "101" fertilizing way is the best in flue-cured tobacco production in Liuyang.
