| There are abundant lutein andβ- carrotene in the okra leaves. At the same time, okra grows strong and its biomass is high in subtropical area. Therefore, okra possesses advantages for cultivation and application as the plant resource of natural pigment that used in the feed additive.Screen test of 31 strains okra that introduced had been carried out, and preliminary appraisals about the parameter such as growth rhythm, biomass, etc. were made. Then 14 excellent strains okra for poultry pigment that suite for cultivation in Hainan were screened. Comparison tests among the 14 strains okra were carried out and we mainly compared and assessed from biomass, content of lutein andβ- carrotene in the okra leaves and feed conventional composition. And then the high-yielding, high-quality new strains were selected to apply to natural pigment production. At the same time, we analysed the feed conventional composition of these okra to confirmed the application and development value when they were used as the feed additive. On this foundation, we selected 018 and 021 as preferred strains for high-yielding cultivation test that studied mainly from planting density, nitrogenous fertilizer dosage and interaction of the two factors. And we studied the high-yielding cultivation techniques of okra that are used as feed additive by researching their best biomass and stem/leaf ratio. In the whole set of test, we harvested by cutting like herb. And we have adopted a series of self-defining indexes to discover the proper cutting height of okra for studing the cutting technique application to the okra.The main research results are as follows:1. Obvious statistical discrepancy was found from the yields of dry matter of okra leaf in 31 strains that introduced, the dry matter yield of the leaves on single tree of 028 and 021 stains were higher than other strains notably, that of more than 1/3 strains were at range of 50g- 100g, Each strain's growth tendency was comparatively identical, their high lack correlation from dry matter yield. So according to the state and fact of actualities,14 excellent strains okra for comparison test were screened. They are: 003,004-2,007-1,008,010,013,014,018,019,021,024-3,026-1,Slk- 2 and k5. |
