Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge is a unique plant of biomass energy in northern China, with a good resistance to barrenness, drought and saline-alkali. Study on the fertilizer practice of Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge in mountain and hill area is of great importance to the rational utilization in extensive region with barren soil and poor water condition. Based on the conditions of soil nutrient in mountain and hill area of Shandong province, this experiment shows the application influence of inorganic fertilizer, organic fertilizer and organic-inorganic compound fertilizer in different matching to the fruit growth feature, plant nutrition and the enzymatic activity and nutrition in soil. It provides scientific basis and direction for the rational maturing in the plantation of Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge in mountain and hill area. The main results are as follows:1. Fertilization is propitious to improve the chlorophyll content of the Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge leaves, but not conspicuous to affect the tree height. Given organic-inorganic compound fertilizer and the fertilizer high volume of N, P, K, in the 3414 fertilizer scheme, the base diameter begins to increase significantly but acts indistinctively with other fertilization treatment. According to the model analysis built on the effect of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium balanced application to tree height and ground diameter, only the F-test based on the model of ground diameter and nitrogen acts significantly.2. Inorganic fertilizer, organic fertilizer and organic-inorganic compound fertilizer can greatly increase the contents of total N, P, K in leaves. A reasonable N P K is favor for the leaves to absorb N, P and K. Furthermore, organic-inorganic compound fertilizer acts better than exclusive use of inorganic fertilizer and organic fertilizer. The contents of total N, P decrease in the order of kernel> seed coats> peels and K decreases in the order of peels> kernel>seed coats. Inorganic fertilizer, organic fertilizer and organic-inorganic compound fertilizer can greatly increase the contents of total N in fruit, P in kernel and K in peels. Organic-inorganic compound fertilizer can be more beneficial to improve the nutrient content in fruit than inorganic fertilizer and organic fertilizer.3. Available nutrient in soil present a trend from increase to decrease. When applied with inorganic fertilizer or organic fertilizer and organic-inorganic compound fertilizer during fruit-development stage, the amount of available nutrient will be improved. Besides, the latter acts more efficiently. The amount of available nutrient in soil can be greatly improved with application of inorganic N, P and K in flowering period. But, as the application rates increased to the level of N2, P2 and K2, it will not take on a significant increase.4. Exclusive use of organic fertilizer and organic-inorganic compound fertilizer can greatly improve the activity of hydrogen peroxidase, invertase, urease and acid phosphatase. The improvements of soil enzyme activity were 20.14%-42.36%,51.34%-75.31%,33.60%-59.12% and 14.52%-26.45% compared to the CK. While inorganic fertilizer can reduce hydrogen peroxidase and urease activity and improve invertase activity. The declined of soil enzyme activity were 7.92% and 12.35%, while the improvements were 31.76%. But it affect unobvious to phosphatase activity.
