A Preliminary Study On The Pharmacognosy

Streptocaulon juventas Merr.(Asclepiadaceae),distributed in the southwest of China, hasn’t been researched intensively before.In this dissertation,we studied on vines of Streptocaulon Juventas at first time in order to master much more information and provide proof for the clinical use and further exploitation.1.The chemical constituents and pharmacological research of Lperiplocoideae K.schum. were briefly reviewed.2.The pharmacognostical characters of Streptocaulon Juventas vines were studied sysmatically,including the plant morphology,microscopic and physicochemical identification.3.The anti-tumor components were isolated and identified from the active fraction of S. Juventas by bioassay-guiding fractionation.Firstly,the water extract was subjected on macro porous adsorption resin to give four fractions.And then,using MTT method,they were tested for the anti-tumor activity in vitro. According to the results,30%EtOH elution inhibited the growth of human HL-60 cancer cell line significantly,so it was determined to be active fraction.4.The active fraction was separated and purified by kinds of chromatography techniques, such as Silica gel,Sephadex-LH20,preparative HPLC and so on.Thirteen compounds were obtained and the structures of nine were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and physico-chemical properties as syringaldehyde(1),isofraxidin(2),ferulic acid(3),β-sitosterol(4),scopoletin(5),syringic acid(6),salicylaldehyde(7),scoparone(8), daucosterol(13).Except forβ-sitosterol and daucosterol,other compounds were obtained from the genus for the first time.
