As early as in ancient times, our ancestors had specially depicted their state of mind and conveyed information about their lives with their sequential hands. Mottled walls in caves, splendid chinaware and terrines buried along in the graves and sheepskin having gone through wind and rain for thousands of years and so many treasures of human tell the infinite beauty create by mankind as the essence of the universe. All the beauties created by human beings with our own hands can also heal people besides praising humans. However, we only started studies of the arts about sixty years ago and it is still in the initial stage at present. Currently, it is mostly used in medical institutions and teaching research and application of fine arts teaching researches for special field of education especially autistic children is still to be deepened.Autistic children are called as "children of the stars", who are indulged into their own world. We need a more exquisite "language" to warm their heart and build a bridge of communication and show clearly the road to step on. Such media as fine arts is precisely what educators need when it comes to such a group of children to execute assistant teaching for autistic children. In view of the growing need of art therapy application in education for autistic children and the need of development of the theory, this paper introduces the necessity of art education in education in light of the characteristics of autistic children to enable the children to obtain autopilot of psychological harmony under the guidance of predecessors in direction of study and the powerful charm of art education. In addition, the paper studies application of art therapy in education for autistic children and tries to probe into the applicability and applied characteristics of art in education for them.In the literature research, the paper provides clear description of performance characteristics of autistic children to make the following theoretical research more explicit and specific; and then, a summary and review of the emergence and development and theoretical basis of art therapy for autistic children; finally, the paper illustrates the role of art in education for autistic children. Theoretical study provides a solid foundation for practical application and also promotes further development and improvement of the technology. On the basis of what is learnt from and drew upon domestic and foreign art education, the therapeutic effect of art in education for autistic children is shown through practice and analysis of the cases of art therapy in art education and artworks of autistic children. The effect evaluation is analyzed by questionnaire and interview, which shows that after treatment of drawing, artwork appreciation and other artistic means, the subjects achieve better performances in school than at home. Besides, the parents and teachers of the subjects think that the subjects made progresses in communication and expression skills. In the end, the paper explores the experience of application of art in education for autistic children and provides feasible suggestions and subsequent research thoughts on the basis of foresaid studies and discussion.
