Purpose:To explore the pathogenesis of diabetes peripheral neuropathy(DPN)from the theory of collateral disease, and provide the theory basis for treatingthis disease from the perspective of“invigorating Qi,promoting bloodcirculation and draining collateral”.Method:After learning about the related sections of collateral disease andDPN in“Huangdi Neijing”,“Shanghan Zabing Lun”and“A guide to clinicalpractice”.Widely consult related records about mechanisms, therapy and treatmentfor DPN of domestic and overseas scholars in recent years. To investigate thecorrelation between the formation, the development of DPN and collateraldisease theory, categorize DPN as collateral disease. And according to thephysiological and pathological characteristics of collateral disease as easyto virtual and delay, and the treatment principle of collateral disease,Combinedwith modern pharmacological study for the traditional Chinese medicine andclinical case report, present that treating DPN should follow the theory ofcollateral disease. And treating this disease with the way of“invigoratingQi,promoting blood circulation and draining collateral” should be effective,Inorder to explain the clinical value and social value of treating DPN follow thetheory of collateral disease. Conclusion:DPN should belongs to the category of collateral disease. thetraditional Chinese medicine of“invigorating Qi,promoting blood circulationand draining collateral”can effectively alleviate the fatigue of patients withdiabetic peripheral neuropathy symptoms such as weakness, numbness andpain, protect the nerve, improve local blood microcirculation And it cansignificantly improve the peripheral nerve conduction velocity.Treating DPNwith the method of invigorating Qi,promoting blood circulation and drainingcollateral will get a significant clinical effect.
