Subacute thyroiditis (SAT) is also known as granulomatous thyroiditisor giant cell thyroiditis. The disease is a common thyroid disease, andself-limiting, with destructive thyroid tissue damage associated withshortterm pain is characterized by systemic inflammation.Modern medicinecan lead to recurrent disease etiology and pathogenesis of this diseaseis not yet clear, the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs orcorticosteroids symptomatic treatment, although the rapid onset, butlarger adverse reactions, and decrement or easy cause relapse after drugwithdrawal.According to the clinical characteristics of acutethyroiditis pain in the neck, Traditional Chinese medicine attributesit to "gall disease ","swollen gall" category, and considers that itspathogenesis are environmental factors, emotional disorders and feelingsof evils related.My teacher Professor Zhang Lan according to the basic theory oftraditional Chinese medicine combined with years of clinical experiencesuggests that the major cause of subacute thyroiditis are exogenouswind-heat cult poison, emotional injuries, but also closely related withthe physical factors.Its basic pathogenesis are qi stagnation, bloodstasis, Phlegm obstruct knot in the anterior, causing blood runs sluggish,general clauses pain. According to the etiology and pathogenesis of TCMof subacute thyroiditis, clinical symptoms, and in the differentdeveloping stages of the disease, my teacher divids it into exogenouswind-heat syndrome, liver stagnant heat, yin deficiency syndrome and yangTanning permit for syndrome differentiation. Clinical symptoms ofpatients with syndrome differentiation treatment combined with pulse andtongue, balance table, right from the actual situation, flexibledialectical, send medication, pay attention to in the response, totransform the formulas, the effect is remarkable.
