Objective:To Evaluate the effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine preparations for treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis. Methods:According to the methods of System evaluation, search the VIP Chinese Scientific Journals Database; wanfang database; China Knowledge Repository of Tsinghua Tongfang CNKI series databases; Western biomedical journals database and Cochrane Library database of clinical trials, which are provided by the Library of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. And manually retrieve some Chinese core journals by the use of Baidu, google search engine, medical forums. The time is limited before2013. Develop inclusion and exclusion criteria to filter the literature, evaluate the matching literatures in accordance with the relevant quality evaluation criteria, extract data and do Meta-analysis by using the software of RevMan5.2.Results:This paper contains a total of17studies,1549cases of patients with chronic atrophic gastritis, the methodological quality of studies are relatively low. The results of Meta-analysis shows:compared with the control group, the treatment group shows a better overall clinical efficacy [RR=1.30,95%CI(1.20,1.41), P<0.00001], and improves the symptoms and signs of CAG patient’s better [RR=1.14,95%CI[1.02,1.27], p<0.02], and improves epigastric fullness [MD=0.92,95%CI[0.57,1.26], p<0.00001]、Stomach pain [MD=0.59,95%CI[0.36,0.82], p<0.00001]、loss of appetite [MD=0.61,95%CI [0.24,0.99], p=0.001]、belching symptoms [MD=0.40,95%CI[0.11,0.69], p=0.006], and improves the performance of endoscopy in patients [RR=1.79,95%CI(1.27,2.53), P=0.0009] and pathological overall [RR=2.16,95%CI(1.67,2.79),P<0.00001]、mu-cosal atrophy [RR=1.68,95%CI(1.44,1.96),P<0.00001]、Intestinal metaplasia[RR=4.68,95%CI(2.24,9.78), P<0.0001]、dysplasia cases[RR=2.46,95%CI(1.34,4.51), P=0.004].CAG positive for HP infection in patients in both groups have no statistical difference in the efficacy of eradication of HP.13studies were observed adverse reactions, including four studies observed adverse reactions, mainly allergic reactions, dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, mouth ulcers, tongue tip erosion, insomnia, rashes, hives, loose stool and other gastrointestinal symptoms, there is no statistically significant difference between groups by comparison. Conclusion:The study suggests that the use of traditional Chinese medicines in the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis compared with the general treatment based on the use of medicine in signs and symptoms, endoscopy and pathology to improve aspects of performance can enhance its efficacy, and have more comprehensive clinical efficacy; HP in terms of cure, there is no significant difference in the efficacy of Western medicine. But the quality of studies included is relatively low, there are a variety of deficiencies and problems in the discussion, so the available evidence is still unable to fully proved Chinese medicine preparation for treating chronic atrophic gastritis efficacy and safety. Therefore, the above results should be cautious. Therefore there is a need for high quality randomized controlled trials to be confirmed.
