ObjectiveTo investigate the prevalence and risk factors of DM and IGR among the elderly population in Shanghai rural community.MethodsUse a cross-sectional study methods,Questionnaire survey, physical examination, and laboratory testing were conducted among the population aged 40~75 in Yunsong community,Shanghai city, from March to April,2014.Calculate the prevalence of diabetes and impaired glucose regulation, analyse the risk factors of diabetes and impaired glucose regulation. SPSS 17.0 statistical software was used in all analysis.Results1.The prevalence rates of DM and IGR were 22.98% and 29.37%.2.The prevalence rates of DM in male and female were 20.39% and 25.26%.The risk of developing diabetes of female is 1.791 times of the male.3.Aging,positive family history, fatty liver, abdominal obesity, low high-density lipid protein cholesterol and female were the main risk factors for diabetes.4.Low degree of culture, fatty liver, abdominal obesity and female were the main risk factors for impaired glucose regulation.Conclusions1.The prevalence rates of diabetes and impaired glucose regulation were high in Shanghai rural community.2.Aging,positive family history of diabetes, fatty liver, abdominal obesity, low high-density lipid protein cholesterol and female increase the risk for diabetes.3.The low degree of culture, fatty liver, abdominal obesity and female increase the risk for impaired glucose regulation.Objective1.To investigate the awareness and the scale of self-efficacy in diabetes and impaired glucose regulation among the elderly population in Shanghai rural community.2.To explore the influencing factors of awareness, levels of self-efficacy of diabetes among the elderly population in Shanghai rural community.MethodsWe Use a cross-sectional study methods from June to July,2014.Recruitment population who was diagnosed diabetes in our part I study.Questionnaire survey, physical examination, and laboratory testing were conducted among the population. SPSS 17.0 statistical software was used in all analysis. The questionnaires included the general situation, awareness rate of diabetes and Diabetes Self Efficacy Scale(DSES).Results1.The awareness rate of diabetes was 50.78%.2.Age,culture degree,HbA1 c and exercise were the main influencing factors for the awareness rate of diabetes.3.The score of self-efficacy was 77.48±22.221,the index score was 59.60%.4.Culture degree, income and sex were the main influencing factors for the levels of self-efficacy of diabetes.ConclusionBoth the level of awareness rate and self-efficacy of diabetes were low,and they need to be improved. We should strengthen the education of diabetes.
