Screening And Application Of Traditional Chinese Medicine Extracts With Antibacterial Activity

Purposes: To screen out traditional Chinese medicine extracts which have obvious inhibition on the bacterias,then add them into personal care products to remove scurf、acne and antisepsis.It lays the foundation for the development of personal care products.Methods:On 23 traditional Chinese medicines extracting、concentrationing and drying,we can get their aqueous extracts and ethanolic extracts.By Kindy Bauer method and Minimal Inhibitory Concentration method,we screen out the extracts which have obvious inhibition on Malassezia furfur、Propionibacterium acnes、Staphylococcus aureus 、 Escherichia col 、 Pseudomonas aeruginosa 、 Candida albicans 、 Aspergillus niger, add the appropriate extracts into corresponding formulations,then verify the inhibitory effection,test the security and obverse the stability of those samples.Results: The bacteriostasis test results show that the extracts applied to anti-dandruff shampoo are caryophylli flos ethanol extract、coptidis rhizoma aqueous extract、rhuharb ethanol extract,the extracts added to acne gel are phellodendri chinensis cortex ethanol extract、licorice ethanol extract、coptidis rhizoma aqueous extract;the complex extracts to replace the traditional preservatives are composed of coptidis rhizoma aqueous extract、coptidis rhizoma ethanol extract、scutellaria ethanol extract、paridis rhizoma ethanol extract. By evaluating inhibitory effect,we find the anti-dandruff effect is much weakened by compounding coptidis rhizoma water extract with ZPT,but coptidis rhizoma aqueous extract used alone has the similar effect to positive control. Compounding 0.4 percent caryophylli flos ethanol extract with ZPT can get a desired effect. In acne products,phellodendri chinensis cortex and licorice ethanol extract’s additions are 5 percent, coptidis rhizoma aqueous extract’s addition is 3 percent( the extract is used alone). The results of antimicrobial effectiveness testing(USP) show that the most suitable corrosion protection system is 0.2 percent coptidis rhizoma aqueous extract and10 percent compound extract NO.3.Conclusions: The chinese medicine extracts have inhibition on Malassezia furfur、Propionibacterium acnes、Staphylococcus aureus、Escherichia col、Pseudomonas aeruginosa 、 Candida albicans 、 Aspergillus niger,some extracts have obvious inhibition. Add them into personal care products to remove scurf、acne and antisepsis.
