Prunus humilis, a species of Cerasus that originates in China, has the characteristics of being cold-, drought-, saline-, alkali- and sterile-resistant, all of which make it a wild fruit tree species with considerably strong adaptabilities.Based on the researches conducted on the shoot of wild tree species of Prunus humilis, empirical results regarding the species'germplasm characteristics and anti-drought mechanism are collected, which enables us to further explore the possibility of the species'industrialized production and to provide favourable breeding information. The germplasm characteristics are carefully studied through field surveys and statistics, and ten physiological and biochemical indexes of the species under the soil drought stress are obtained and analyzed, so as to get an inkling of its anti-drought mechanism. The paper thus proceeds to provide some theoretical basis to account for the species'drought-resistant behaviours and to select parameters that should be considered when evaluating the anti-drought capabilities. The experimental results show that Prunus humilis has a significant capacity for consecutive growths, which could result in thin and fragile withes and a decline in growth trend over a period of time when exposed to natural environments. Therefore, in artificial cultivation, it is crucial to have prompt pruning and proper mixing of the primary, secondary, and following growths. The fruits of Prunus humilis are found to have high concentrations of various nutrients, which make it desirable to manufacture as a nourishment and health care product, especially for children. Amino acid occurs at 2568mg/100g, with all kinds present: essential amino acid takes up 29.17% and infant essential amino acid accounts for 35.71%. The fruit of Prunus humilis also contains high levels of Ca, Fe, Zn, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E.The PRINCOMP analysis on the nine physiological and biochemical indexes suggest that, it is a complicated and multiple factor controlled of Prunus humilis'anti-drought process, it also can resist drought by multiple ways. The mechanism of Prunus humilis'anti-drought is different under different water situation.
