In order to determine the diagnosis and therapy of Eperythrozoon, the epidemic, clinical signs and pathological observations for the disease were investigated on a certain swine farm in Hengyang, performing experiments on the diagnostic methods and the therapeutic method of Eperythrozoonosis. To find the accurate and effective diagnostic methods of Eperythrozoonosis, the preventive and treatment measure of Eperythrozoonosis, in order to explore effective and reasonable ways to treat and prevent in Eperythrozoonsis in pigs. 1.The experiment on the Diagnostic method of Eperythrozoonosis in pigs. The diagnostic method using blood and infected mice were conducted for total 50 siken pigs, performed the laboratory test. The results showed that Eperthrozoon existed in all the blood samples with 100% of the positive rate. The infection intensity over 10%-50% and over 50%-75% was frequently observed in sick pigs, the infection percentage was 32% and 36% respectively. Eperythrozoon that attached to erythrocyte was purple red and blue brown, as gems adhered in erythrocyte with Wright and Giemas staining. The false positives were found while using lifeblood and pigmentation diagnostic methods. Based on the analysis of the false positives, it was suggested that the comprehensive diagnosis including clinical signs and pathological changes should he considered and a further investigation should be conducted on the pathogen when diagnosing Eperthrozoonsis. 2. Study on the methods to treat and prevent Eperythrozoonosis in pigsForty sicken pigs were divided into five groups randomly, eight pigs per group(Group five was control and not treated),the other four groups were treated with Oxytetracycline Long Acting Injection, terramycin, Zmizol and Doxycyclinum respectively. The result showed that Oxytetracycline Long Acting Injection, terramycin, Zmizol and Doxycyclinum could restrain and kill the Eperythrozoon in pigs effectively. The cure rate was 87.5%, 92.5%, 100% and 87.5% respectively. There were obvious changes after the three days post-treated, all indexes changed remarkably (P<0.05). Doxycyclinum were not effective compared with Oxytetracycline Long Acting Injection, terramycin and Zmizol, the change of every index was not remarkable (P>0.05). But the effective and cure rate withDoxycyclinum was higher than Oxytetracycline Long Acting Injection, terramycin and Zmizol. So Doxycyclinum was the first choice for treating the pigs suffered from Eperythrozoon.
