The experiment studied the morphological character and the epizootiology of the Dictyocaulus filaria in detail in sheep in Xinjiang, and gave it an initial immunological diagnosis. In morphological character we discovered that the male lungworms both the length and the width were bigger than them who had been recorded in data; the female lungworms were longer than them who have been recorded in data, and the distance from the tail to the anus was also longer, the genitals lied in the middle part reward of the female lungworm. The larvae length was almost identical. All these are related to the differences of the lungworms. In addition, the difference of the area and the observed angle should be considered, which should be proved in the study in future. By the 12 months continuous investigation of the Dictyocaulus filaria epidemiology, we discovered in this experiment that in 643 sheep the average infection rate was 37.38% and the infection intensity (per 10g feces)was 1 to 300, which were lower than those recorded in 1975 to 1988. From December to March of next year, the average infection rate and the infection intentisity of the Dictyocaulus filaria were both higher, so we suggested give helminthic to sheep in this period, and avoid the drug-resistance at the same time. In addition the reducer of the infection rate and the infection intensity also proved the importance of the feeding condition and the management level in breeding sheep. Knowing about the epidemiology of the Dictyocaulus filaria in sheep in time provided a base to prevention and cure. In the experiment we used the indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to study the immunity diagnosis of the Dictyocaulus filaria in sheep initially. The result showed that it has a better immunity impression by using three crude somatic antigens to immune the experiment animals, the adult lungworms antigens and the excrete-excretion antigens had 50% crossing. But we did not get the ideal result when we used them as a diagnosis antigen to examine the antibody of the ill sheep. It may be connected with the antigens and the crossing-infection. So we should pure the antigens first in the study in the future, and get rid of the crossing-infection at the same time.
