In order to provide new evidence for the study of H. cannabinus genetic diversity and genetic relationships among 32 accessions of kenaf, including 4 wild species,5 semi-wild species, 10 cultivating-varieties of kenaf introduced overseas ,13 internal culti- vating-varieties of kenaf ,collected from Cuba,America, former -Soviet Union, France , Poland, Canada, Australia, Egypt, South Africa, Phi lip-pines, Pakistan, Uganda, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Salvador, Nigeria, Sudan, Zambia and selected by breeding institutes of our country during the period of "tenth five-year plan" ,were investigated with the technique of ISSR analysis. These DNAs were amplified with 13 ISSR primers selected from 70 primers. The 32 kenaf varieties were clustered into different groups according to the simi- larity coefficient (Nei-li), which represented the genetic relation- ship of different varieties. Major results are as follows:1. From the UPGMA cluster based on the genetic similarity (GS), at the level of 0.68, 32kenaf varieties were clustered into one major group (including 28 varieties) , one inferior group which had three varieties: SL254, ZM412 and NA414 ,and one single-variety group which had only 85-244. The laster 4 wild-varieties are quite different from others. SL254 was? selected from Salvador, ZM412 was from Zambia and NA414 was from Nigeria .The 3 types were clustered together, which means that they may have closer relationship; but these 3 types are further from other types ,which means they have only a little similar character with others .The 85-244 was a wild specie selected from Kenya, it has quite further relationshipfrom the 1st major group and from the 2nd inferior group.2. Based on the genetic similarity (GS) at the level of 0.73, the 1 st major group (including 28 varieties) could be clustered into three inferior groups(I1 , I3, I4) and onesingle-variety groups (I2) . The I1 inferior group includes 22 varieties (cultivating-varieties,semi-wild species, internal cultivating-varieties------Fu Hong series and Min Hong series etal) which could be classed into 6 part. The I2 inferior group includes Chinese Region Trial varieties (R5, R6, R8), which have closer relationships with varieties overseas. The I3 inferior? group includes 2 varieties------Ah Lian kenaf and IDN147. The I4 inferior group is a...
