The research of Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge was conducted in Jining Agricultural School experimental base and Zoucheng Forest Bureau experimental base of Jining area(34°26 ' ~35°27' N and 115°27' ~117°36' E)from 2000 to 2004.This experiment was mainly performed on introduction and preliminary selecting of superior individual plants and comparative experiments of various propagating methods (seedling propagation and cutting propagation and tissue culture).Meanwhile, the proper methods of source preservation and rapid propagation were founded by studying its biological habits and ecological adaptation. And the technique for high yield which was suit for Jining area had been established. Also, the medical value and practial value of the plant were proved both in theoretical aspect and practial aspect. The following results were obtained:1. Over 7,000 seedlings had been bred by widely collecting experimental materials(seeds and branches) of the plant .And 76 superior individual plants growing faster and bearing earlier had been selected and cultivated from the seedlings, which were the foundation for the next extension and application.2. The matched technique for seedling propagation had been searched out .Though a series measures for seedling propagation such as stratification and germination in soaking seeds and planting (the date and quantity) and seedling stage management, the rate of seedling could be 95%. It had been grasped in cultivated characteristics andgrowing regulation and ecological adaptation and the value in edibleness and medical and virescence.3. Breed the ability to supply the necessary technology after mastering cottage. Hard pieces of cottage and root to be inserted separately were adopted.And different treatments were set about cottage period, hormone kind, concentration of using ,etc. Have found out optimum treatments. The test was proved: Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge was especially suitable for roots to insert,the rate of taking root was up to 92%. Moreover, hard pieces of cottage and green pieces of cottage take root comparatively difficult, the rate of taking root was 35%-29% respectively .4. Have mastered and organized the ability to supply the necessary technology.this low problem of reproduction coefficient met while popularizing by a large scale to Xanthoceras sorbifolia Bunge .The test had found the optimum culture medium for the propagating methods in inducing shoot with cotyledon and stem section: medium for sprout with cotyleton: B5 + BAlmg/L ( or KTlmg/L) + NAA0.66mg/L( or IBA0.08mg/L)+GA2mg/L, medium for the sprouting of lateral buds:MS+BAlmg/L+NAA0.2mg/L; medium for the calli of induction:MS + 2,4-Dlmg/L + NAA0.5~lmg/L + BAlmg/L; medium for multiplication : MS+IBA0.5~lmg/L+KT2~3mg/L or MS+IBAl~3mg/L ; medium for rooting: MS + IAA1-2 mg/L.5. Have summarized the high qulity and yield culture technology system in the area of Ji Ning of Xanthoceras sorbifoliaBunge including seed, grow seedlings,transplant and the managementof soil ,fertilizer and irrigation,plant diseases and insect pests,etc. Inthe course of growing,the solid theoretical foundation had beenestablished for its large area popularization in Ji Ning and even ShanDong.
