Twenty turfgrass varieaties adapted to cool or warm season were introduced to study characteristics of ecological adaption in the experimental farm of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University respectively in May,2001. Based on observation and comparison in ten main traits, the warm-season Pinsacola Bahiagrasss (Paspalum notation Flugge) which was considered a promising variety with strong chilling tolerance and disease-resistance, and the cool-season Parkgrass (Poa pratensis) which has strong invasion, heat tolerance, high quality and the same color as Bahiagrass were selected for the research on cool-warm turfgrass varieties mixtures. The experiment was conducted on by using the orthogonal-gyrating regression design in the experimental station FAFU. Fuzhou. In the light of the design,a design.a field trial with two factors(two varieties mentioned above) and five levels of seeding rate was conducted on September 15,2001.The dynamic population biomass and interspecific competition in 9 mixtures were studied when these two species were sown in different proportion based on the design. The results indicated for: The biomass of the Park in overall mixtures reached its peak in mid-May or mid-June. The larger the mixture ratio of Park, the more in the Peak' s yield. The biomass of Bahiagrass had an obvious peak in summer. These two turfgrasses were in keen competition from first-November to first-December and mid-April to mid-May, which was called the transformation term. The Bahiagrass had high competitive ability from mid-May to mid-September in the mixtures, and so did Park from mid-December to mid-April.The sixteen treatments were evaluated biologically and statistically by measuring each index and using the fuzzy synthetic judgment. Then the significantly correlative regress model were established between seeding rates of two turfgrasses and the turf characteristics such as biomass uniform etc. The optimal sowing scheme, which was expected to gain good turf quality, was at a rate of Behiagrass 6. 597-11.453 g/m2 and Park 10.031-10.996 g/m2.Finally, in the premise of successful establishment, some techniques for cool-warm turfgrass mixture and management log were put forward, and then a set of relevant technique of establishment and ways to maintain and manage were summarized. So that, it can extend the turfgrass green time, remain green all year, improve the turf characters and increase the turf qualities.
