As one of the main places for the teenager to study and live in, the primary and middle school classroom provides a comfortable living space for physical and mental health. The bright learning environment, the even degree of illumination and the good indoor air ventilation condition are relative to learn efficiency and physical and mental health of young people. Moreover, artificial illumination and ventilation can not instead of natural environment. Stroboflash and air conditioner may cause latent threat for health. The light pipe is the emerging construction ecology technology, which integrates lighting and ventilation and enhances the classroom indoor environment, bring huge ecology and the economic efficiency as well. The light pipe system may improve uneven and insufficiency illumination of one-sided natural lighting classroom and as well as indoor air pollution in heating seasons. This article goal lies in through the simulation and the contrast establishment methods of different light pipe which integrates lighting and ventilation, combining classroom indoor environment characteristic, finding principle and the method for using light pipe in classroom, and giving suggestions for in the future school design practice.On the base of theory knowledge of light pipe for illumination and ventilation in the primary and middle school classrooms, this artical has proven feasibility of using light pipe from three aspects in the requirement of classroom, the technique and cost, and example analysis. There are some design methods about lighting and ventilation by light pipe researched, such as which consists of different lean angles varied with latitude, shapes and the arranged method of diffusion cap in classroom, shapes of the pipe cap, proper size of the pipe and the arrangement of indoor intakes. The construction are mentioned as well.Measurement, deduction, theory calculation and computer simulation are used in this article. Some design principles and methods are raised in order to help design and construction.It is supposed to provide some references and suggestions to help architects to know about lighting and ventilation by light pipes and enhance the indoor environment in the primary and middle school classrooms.
