On the base of investigating the domestic and overseas research, the shell model of the passenger car was created. Through the model, the distribution of stress and displacement of the frame at four condition such as bending condition, torsion condition, emergent turning condition and emergent braking condition was computated and the bending stiffness and the torsion stiffness of the body structure was discussed.Also, modal analysis of the structure was made so as to research the vibration performance of the frame.Topology optimization was made to the side wall of the body structure after finite element analysis of the body structure. Then, size optimization was used in optimizing the whole body structure in order to reduce the mass and make the distribution of stress better.By making analysis and optimization for the coach-body frame,some problems in the strength analysis, stiffness analysis, dynamic analysis and optimum design was researched so as to accumulate experience for people in automobile industry how to make full use of these tools.
