| As a new kind of city parks, urban ecological park is the product of the unceasing development of ecological construction. Following the development of the global ecological construction and the development of the west regions, the ecological construction in the northwest areas also grows vigorously. To build urban ecological parks in the northwest regions is of profound significance to the improvement of the eco-environment of the regions due to its harsh natural environment and laggard ecological construction.The specific climatic conditions and geological features of the northwest regions are the most important factors in the planning and design of urban ecological parks. The distinctiveness of the natural, economic and human conditions pose a challenge for the planning and design of eco parks, as well as offering an opportunity. The design must highlight the ecological concept while corresponding with the city culture, harmonize with the climate, custom and neighboring environment while embodying the stamp of the age and unique features, thus forming a landscape in concert with ethnical and local cultural background. The thesis takes into account the drought and water-deficit characteristics of the northwest regions and probes into the specific practice in planning and design of urban eco parks from seven aspects:location requirements, capacity determination, partition mode, road traffic structure, vertical altitude difference treatment, green vegetation application and introduction of ecological technology. The thesis strives to analyze the specific problems in the eco design for northwest regions and put forward practical solutions. It further demonstrates through the example of the design of Bayehot urban ecological park of Inner Mongolia how to explore regional advantages to mend for the restraint factors in the ecological construction and how to build an urban eco park full of the ecological and regional features of northwest regions.
