Study On Characteristics Of Streescape In The City Center Of Harbin

City Street Landscape is an important component and the framework of the urban landscape. Given that the streetscape is unique and vibrant, urban landscape will also become more unique and rich. The young city of Harbin has 100 years'construction history which is one of the colonial cities with a symbiosis of traditional Chinese, Western and Manchus Culture in China. Being famous of her polycentric city pattern, specific streets frame and diversified architectural styles, Harbin is marked with full exoticism. In order to expand the size of the city and accelerate the modernization, we have also carried out large scale road building as well as the old city reconstruction project. Urban characteristic become mediocre or lose because of construction of a large number of "instant environments".Characteristics is the life of the city, in any case the losing of memory and characteristics of the city are not an ideal in people's mind. According to the three cultural core(Chinese-western, Russian-western and old vs new) we conducted this paper in objective and in-depth ways through investigation, analysis, documentation and other research methods in exploring and researching the regional cultural streetscape about Jingyu Street, Zhongyang Street and Dazhi Street within the scope of Harbin city as well as evaluating from objective view to decide whether it is of he characteristics or not. In the course of elaborating, we analyse the reasons for the loss of landscape features and characteristics, which stressed the importance of the feather of streets of a city landscape, in the end,on the theory of Place-Context, Image of the city and Greenway, we explored on how to create a unique landscape of city streets in order to extend our city context and revive the streets place.
