Since the human society entered the third Industrial Revolution, urban development has become the engine of regional economic development, and a safe and comfortable living environment for the public. City has become one of the most important symbols of social civilization.With the accelerated process of urbanization and the expansion of urban construction, there is a lot of leftover spaces that appear in cities, they have tedious design, low efficiency of use and lack of necessary security, indeed, they have become the neglected corner and full of safety risk in cities.This can be expected, urban construction has no longer blindly in pursuit of speed, as the life pattern of social and economic will be optimizing adjust in the future. The think of Urban development is becoming increasingly clearer which will further improve the function of urban space, optimize resource allocation and utilization of space, enhance the quality of the urban environment. The design of the urban street leftover spaces will be one of the important urban development tasks for future exploring and addressing.Based on the current problems, the formation mechanism and the evolution of development background of the urban street leftover spaces, this paper has combined the behavioral characteristics of users and the needs of urban functions to investigate the dominant function, the shape constitution and use features of urban corner spaces, in order to summarise the necessary elements for constructing favorable urban street corner spaces.Through scientific analysis and researches, this paper explains the design principle and measure of urban street leftover spaces from two levels which are external effection and internal integration, and propose the human design mode of urban street leftover space.Hope that this study can provide reference and guidance for the related space design of urban areas, and furthermore, to create a safe, comfortable, healthy and efficient corner space environment for urban streets, makes the user-friendly spatial development idea to become one of the effective instructions for social development of'resource-saving and environment-friendly'.
