| With the development of the city,problems like the population expansion,traffic congestion,ecological deterioration,resource constraints and other urban problems have become more prominent.The irrationality layout of urban space structure has resulted in the inefficient use of many urban land resources.The uneven distribution of resources has led to worse contradictions among different classes of our society.The lacking of the sense of belongings has changed the city to be bland and ruthless.The design and application of urban leftover space can solve above problems effectively.So we should give more attention to this type of space.The problem of how to make the city leftover space serve people better deserves most urban planning and design related workers to think and explore.In this paper,the research background is based on the current spatial structure and existing problems in Shanghai.The paper summarized the basic definition and connotation of "Urban Leftover Space" and worked on the multi-angle classification of its different existed types by going through a large number of relevant literatures.Also,this paper demonstrated the function of the "Urban Leftover Space" and the positive influence on the city development after the design and utilization from three aspects that are material needs,spiritual needs,and aesthetic needs.Combining with the distribution and research of Shanghai’s leftover space,this paper analyzed the causes,characteristics and current situation of Shanghai’s "Urban Leftover Space" in depth,and studied the interaction between different environment of leftover space and human behavior.Besides,the paper summarized the attentive matters and what design principals should be followed when utilizing the design of Urban Leftover Space by discussing the Shanghai leftover space design patterns and development direction based on meeting the interests and needs of people and combining three urban leftover space design application cases,which include Tokyo,New York and Macao.The purpose is providing new ideas of optimizing Shanghai’s urban spatial structure that will promote the harmonious development of the society. |
