The Study Of The Planning Control In The Protection Of Xiguan's Featured Streets In Guangzhou

Since the 80s of the 20th century, along with Chinese large-scale urbanization and urban renewal movement, the historical region has experienced profound changes in physical form, urban fabric and building environment has been damaged to varying degrees. As the best spatial pattern preserved district of Guangzhou's old city, Xiguan has undergone dramatic changes, many pleasant, elegant, versatile, activity-rich, with good historical features and characteristics traditional streets are constantly faced with the protection of the pressure such as the impact of reconstruction of roads and tall buildings, the changes of street life and so on. The purpose and significance of the study is how to make the featured streets in Xuguan to the effective protection and can be well controlled in urban renewal, maintain space environment and cultural heritage, preserve and continue features of historical and cultural city.From the concept of the Xiguan featured streets, and through on-site investigation and document analysis, the thesis clarifies the spatial distribution of the Xiguan featured streets and elements of the streets, forms the featured degree evaluation system of the featured streets, and establish the planning control system base on the protection of the featured streets, at last explores the relationship between the planning control in the featured streets protection and the existing development control, propose relevant recommendations for the planning management and implementation. The main research started from the following parts:The first part consists of Chapter I and Chapter II. Chapter I explains the background, significance, purpose, content and methods of the research, reviewed the domestic and foreign relevant theoretical results. Chapter II defines the concept of this study, sum up the concepts related to Xiguan featured streets, and introduces the theoretical and practical achievement of controlling on the streets protection in domestic and foreign historical regions, provides a basis for the follow-up parts of the thesis.The second part consists of Chapter III and IV, is the focus of this research. Chapter III is mainly on the analysis of current status of the featured streets, forms criteria of featured degree evaluation from sorting out the elements of the featured streets. Chapter IV raises a rating classification based on the protection, coordination and reform, proposes the various planning control requirements to the featured streets protection, trying to form a special planning control system base on the protection of featured streets.The third part is Chapter V, it has further reflection on the dilemma of development control on the basis of the second part research, discuss the planning control in the protection of featured streets and coordination of the existing way of development control, and puts forward some operation recommendations from the perspective of planning management and implementation.
